The locals warned them of the “Echo,” a monstrous frog said to sleep beneath the black waters. Most dismissed it as superstition until the swamp went silent.
Then the water moved.
From beneath tangled roots rose a giant frog larger than a wagon, its croak shook the reeds like thunder.
